Clothesline Socks (Herzen Blau)

Over 100 blue socks hang from clotheslines stretched across the room, looking at us with googly eyes. They whisper: “Was ich meine, wenn ich sage, dass die Herzen Blau sind" [What I mean when I say that the hearts are blue.]

Like an invocation, this phrase runs through the composition Herzen Blau—overlapping fragments that blend with a soundscape from the back room. Amid dripping milk, poppy seeds, and smoke rising from sad eyes he hear: "Du hast einfach Zitronen auf dem Edelstahl in dünne Scheiben geschnitten - kleiner Eiswasser Schluck!" [You just cut lemons into thin slices on the stainless steel - little sip of ice water!]

Herzen Blau has previously been performed as a solo piece by the character Jojo Sélavy and is now being presented for the first time as a spatial installation. Clothesline Socks have also spoken another piece before — back when they were still white.
